IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josh
Nation
July 23, 1929 – February 29, 2024
The Life Story of: Mr. Josh Nation was born on July 23, 1929, in Epps, Louisiana to Mr. & Mrs. Rosetta Nation. He was raised alongside his brother Joseph Nation. Due to the untimely passing of their father Josh dropped out of school in elementary to nurture and care for his ill mother. Shortly after his mother passed away. Although Josh's childhood was challenging, he still managed to bring love, joy and happiness to others. As an adult he relocated to Chicago, IL where he met his former wife Helen Nation who unfortunately passed away. Despite only having an elementary school education and being stricken with grief, he picked up the pieces of his life and went on to have a successful career as a machinist with Magnet Wire Corporation and later became a truck driver. During that time, he fathered a baby girl, Lynn Morris. After leaving Chicago, Josh moved to Harvey, IL where he was affectionately known as Kojak the pool shark. Kojak loved playing pool, it was one of his favorite pastimes. He enjoyed playing pool, beating his opponents and laughing at them when he won. There are a host of players that he enjoyed playing with and many players that enjoyed playing with him. Kojak's favorite pool partner was Lenora Hunt who became his sister-in-law. They would spend time together all day and night playing pool and enjoying each others company. In 1994 Josh met Eddie Mae Hampton a.k.a Dimple, while doing what he enjoyed most playing pool at Jean's Sportsmen Lounge. A year later they joined hands in holy matrimony on April 5,1995. As a result of this marriage, he gained two daughters, Liz Carter and Jilia Smith. They spent the next 29 years together as a loving family. One of their most beloved family activities was card playing where Josh would rule the table even if he had to cheat to do so. Early Morning February 29, 2024, peacefully in his home surrounded by love Josh gained his wings and went to join the Lord in his heavenly home. Josh was preceded in death by both his parents, his brother Joseph Nation, brother-in-law Earl Hampton and former wife Helen Nation. Josh a.k.a Kojak leaves to cherish and honor his memory a loving wife, Mrs. Eddie Mae Nation, Three Children, Lynn Morris, Liz (Elizabeth) Carter and Jilia Smith, Five grandchildren, Erica (Bennie) Hinds, Nathaniel (Veronica) Smith, Evelyn Dimings, Isaiah Walker and Emari Carter. He also leaves behind many friends and other family members. Memorial contributions may be directed to: Eddie Mae Nation or Jilia Smith
